Typical Accountabilities:• Contributes to the development, and drives implement, of operational plans to achieve engineer strategy objectives• Acts as lead engineer for a significant functional Engineering area or manages group of project engineers accountable to deliver their own portfolio of projects from inception to completion• Ensures Engineering projects are implemented in line with identified AstraZeneca policies, procedures and standards, to achieve agreed scope and cost• Translates business proposals into costed options, balancing various influencing factors or alternatively reviews estimates & programmes for project work to ensure they meet agreed business targets• Manages the progress & expenditure of projects within own business area• Ensures compliance with Engineering, Safety, Health and Environment and all other work standards• Manages the relationship with key clients and portfolio managers, within own business area and across site• Contributes to ongoing development and performance enhancement of the project management function by measuring and monitoring key performance indicators of project delivery• Communicates business needs and helps translate these needs into requirements• Manages the co-ordination of resources within the business teams and across the department• Oversees the introduction of new processes from the identification of business need, through to the timely introduction and formal acceptance of the change by all customers• Leads individuals within own section of Engineering to deliver the highest levels of performance• Identifies and leads improvement initiatives and project teams in support of longer term business strategy• Develops and cultivates technical expertise and knowledge within project team or broader Engineering function by disseminating best practices and sharing knowledge across functions and project teamsTypical People Management Responsibility (direct / indirect reports):• Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 5 - 10• Manager of a teamWhat is the global remit? (how many countries will the role operate in?):• Own countryEducation, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:• Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Professional Engineering Qualifications; Sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, Safety, Health and Environment and Standard Operating Procedures; Project management, change management and people management skills; Good working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry; Technical expertise in at least one Engineering area, and competence in several others• Desirable: Extensive experience in line management, technical support and project management; Pharmaceutical experienceKey Relationship to reach solutions:• Internal (to AZ or team): Internal business leaders; Project team members• External (to AZ): External contractors; External suppliers
