Position Title: Technical Manager - Analytical Working Location: Shanghai Employment Status: Full time Required Experience: Not Indicated Required Education: Not Indicated Travel Required: 0% Job Description: Job Purpose* The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for analytical methods development and validation for OTC drug and/ or FMCG product. Key Responsibilities (10 bullet points maximum) Describe the key deliverables to be achieved by the post holder and the ongoing responsibilities of the role ? Work independently to provide analytical support to innovation and product optimization projects. Activities will include OTC and FMCG product analytical testing method development (e.g. HPLC, IR, UV, FT-IR, DSC, x-Ray, TGA, dissolution assay, relative substance), analytical method validation and transfer, trouble shooting analytical problems. ? Design experiments, conducting scientific study with an awareness of state-of-the-art technology to analytical technology. ? Conduct in-vitro experiments in a timely manner to support product development and/ or claim support were appropriate Generate technical summaries and reports as needed. ? Identify and create product improvements opportunities, which add value to the business, through internal research and the exploitation of external opportunities. ? Support one or more projects including outsourcing activities, coordinate project team to deliver project base on aligned timeline. ? Ensures all work is conducted in accordance with written procedures following good scientific practice (always) and Good Manufacturing Practice (where required). ? Work with established links e.g. instrument vendors, third party testing facilities, universities and GSK global so as to explore technologies that are relevant to GSK CH China. ? Attend and possibly present at relevant symposia/ conferences where prudent. Essential Skills: A. Educational Background 1. Minimum Level of Education* BSc degree Area of Specialisation* Scientific qualification or background related that can be applied to OTC or FMCG products. 2. Preferred Level of Education PhD / MSc preferred or equivalent R&D related analytical experience in a pharmaceutical, or chemistry related discipline. Area of Specialisation Chemistry, Pharmaceutical sciences related. B. Job-Related Experience Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience required Demonstrated delivery within research and development. C. Other Job-Related Skills/Background Preferred Experiences ? Modern analytical theory with in depth experience of trouble shooting and method development for finished products and raw materials. ? Understanding and hands-on experience of a wider range of analytical techniques including HPLC, IR, UV, FT-IR, DSC, x-Ray, TGA, Dissolution, Assay etc. ? Expertise and demonstrated knowledge in analytical method development and validation, and good understanding on relative substance and strong capability in trouble shooting of various dosage forms including solid, semi-solid and liquid. ? Must have an extensive knowledge of RD process in pharmaceutical or consumer health industry and the associated product development procedure with a proven ability to lead and deliver analytical projects. ?
